The Greater Victoria School District is asking for public feedback on the proposed school calendar for the 2028-2029 academic year. Families in View Royal and across the district have until 12:00 pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, to share their thoughts before the calendar is finalized.
The proposed plan establishes key dates for the year, with classes starting on Tuesday, September 5, 2028, and concluding for students on Thursday, June 28, 2029. The calendar includes winter break from December 22, 2028, to January 8, 2029, and spring break from March 16, 2029, to April 4, 2029.
In addition to these holidays, the district has outlined six professional development days for teachers, occurring on September 22, October 20, and November 20 in 2028, as well as February 16 and May 18 in 2029. Each school will also choose one additional day for staff development throughout the year. The district worked with the Saanich School District and the Sooke School District to ensure these breaks align across the region, which helps families manage schedules more easily.
