The City of Fort Saskatchewan released updated construction information on April 24, 2026, alerting residents to upcoming road closures and project timelines across the community. These updates provide clarity on various infrastructure improvements planned as part of the 2026 budget priorities set by the Fort Saskatchewan City Council.
Drivers should prepare for a road closure on Town Crest Road from May 4 to May 9, 2026. During this time, there will be no access from Town Crest Road to the Dow Centennial Centre parking lot or Greenfield Way as construction continues on the new aquatics facility. The facility, which has a total project budget of $72 million, is expected to open in 2029.
Additionally, the city will begin work under its annual neighbourhood rehabilitation program on May 19, 2026. This project will focus on 102 Street between 98 Avenue and 99 Avenue. The program is designed to keep local infrastructure up to current standards and prevent future failures. Work on two other streets, 104 Street and 109 Street, has been deferred to 2027.
Other projects remain in the planning and development stages. Design work for the new bike skills park, which will be situated north of the Dow baseball fields, is currently underway with construction set to begin this summer.
