The Brantford Community Symphony Orchestra will host its Symphony at Sunset concert on August 20, 2026, at the Bell Homestead National Historic Site in Brantford, Ontario. The outdoor performance is set for 7:00 p.m. on the front lawn of the historic property, with a rain date set for August 21.
The concert will feature a mix of classical music once enjoyed by the Bell family and modern favourites. This event is part of the site’s ongoing efforts to celebrate the history of the property, where Alexander Graham Bell first conceived the idea for the telephone in 1874. The site, which has operated as a museum since 1910, was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1996.
The orchestra is part of the Brantford School of Instrumental Music, a group with roots dating back to 1931. Founded in 2012, the symphony includes approximately 45 members under the direction of conductor Deb McLoughlin. The group was created to provide an inclusive space for musicians of all experience levels.
Admission to the concert is free, though donations in support of the museum are welcome. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the performance on the grounds of the family home, located at 94 Tutela Heights Road.
