The Manitoba RCMP is searching for an armed suspect following a shooting in Norway House that left two men injured on April 28, 2026. Officers were called to a disturbance near Lagoon Road at approximately 5:30 p.m., where they discovered two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds.
The shooting took place at the Playgreen Inn. Following the incident, the suspect was observed fleeing into the bush of nearby Fort Island. As of April 29, 2026, the individual remains at large, and police have warned the public that they believe he is armed.
In response to the incident, the Norway House Cree Nation issued a community-wide emergency lockdown. All local offices and businesses have closed until further notice. Chief Season Roulette has urged all residents to remain inside their homes with doors locked, check on their loved ones, and follow all official instructions from authorities.
Specialized units, including Police Dog Services and Major Crime Services, are currently assisting with the investigation in the community, which is home to nearly 6,900 members and located along the Nelson River.
