Two 21-year-old men from Barrie were arrested and face multiple weapons-related charges following a violent disturbance at the Kozlov Shopping Centre on the evening of April 26, 2026. The Barrie Police Service responded to reports of a disturbance at the 400 Bayfield Street parking lot at approximately 7:50 p.m.
Officers arrived within six minutes and spotted the suspect vehicle as it was exiting the commercial plaza onto Bayfield Street. Police conducted a high-risk traffic stop and detained all four occupants of the vehicle. One suspect was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the police station, while the second suspect was apprehended around 9:30 p.m. during an unrelated police call. The other three vehicle occupants were released unconditionally.
Although extensive searches of the area were conducted, police did not recover any firearms. However, investigators allege that the two men were in possession of handguns that were pointed at two victims during the encounter. Based on witness statements and video evidence, both suspects face five charges each, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm. They are also charged with possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and failing to comply with a probation order.
The investigation into the incident, identified by occurrence number BA26026180, remains ongoing. Authorities are currently working to identify the two male victims who were involved. Police are urging these individuals to come forward and contact investigators.
