Tillsonburg residents are facing a cold start to May, but warmer weather is on the way early next week. While a frosty weekend is expected, temperatures are set to climb to 18°C by Monday and Tuesday, which is slightly above the typical seasonal high of 17°C.
According to Environment Canada, a frost advisory remains in effect for the area. Early Friday morning saw temperatures dip to -0.7°C, and officials expect further patchy frost tonight as the temperature drops to -1°C with a wind chill of -7. The federal agency advises residents to cover vulnerable plants that may be susceptible to damage from these near-freezing conditions.
Following the cool, showery weather expected this weekend, a noticeable warming trend will begin. The forecast calls for a high of 9°C on Saturday and 13°C on Sunday before hitting the 18°C peak at the start of the week. Temperatures will return to cooler levels of 11°C by next Wednesday and Thursday.
As residents begin their outdoor projects, those travelling near ongoing Oxford County infrastructure work should remain mindful of local conditions. Significant projects currently underway include the reconstruction of Cranberry Road in Tillsonburg, which is expected to finish in July 2026, and the development of the Well 7A water treatment facility, which is set for completion in December 2026.
