The City of Pitt Meadows is celebrating BC Youth Week with a series of free, drop-in activities for residents aged 11 to 18 running from May 1 to May 7, 2026. These events take place at the Constable Rick O’Brien Youth Lounge, located inside the Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre at 12027 Harris Road.
Youth can participate in a range of daily activities during this week-long celebration. Programming occurs from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on May 1 and May 2, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on May 3 and May 4, and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on May 5, May 6, and May 7.
The BC Youth Week initiative is a provincial celebration established in 1995 to build stronger connections between young people and their communities while highlighting youth interests and accomplishments. Several other municipalities across the province are hosting simultaneous events during the first week of May.
The youth lounge where these activities are hosted is co-supervised by trained staff and volunteers. It features amenities such as billiards, foosball, table tennis, a concession, and various video game options including PlayStation pods, retro arcade games, and Nintendo Switch consoles. The facility serves as a community memorial for the late Ridge Meadows RCMP Constable Rick O’Brien, who was killed in the line of duty in September 2023.
