The University of Guelph Arboretum in Guelph, Ontario, is hosting an outdoor watercolour painting workshop on May 24, 2026, inviting community members to create art among the natural scenery of the 400-acre grounds. The three-hour session, running from 9:00 AM to 12:00 NOON, is open to artists of all skill levels who are 14 years of age or older.
The workshop will be led by Candice Leyland, a watercolour artist and teacher based in Kitchener who studied Studio Art at the university. Leyland brings over five years of teaching experience to the event, where she will provide guidance on capturing the outdoors using vibrant paints.
Registration is open through the Arboretum events page. An early bird registration fee of $65 plus taxes is available for those who sign up by May 16, 2026. After that date, the fee increases to $75 plus taxes. In the event of inclement weather, the workshop will move to a rain date of June 6, 2026.
Established in 1970, the site serves as a living laboratory for the community, offering various educational and nature-focused programs throughout the year. This watercolour session is part of a recurring series of outdoor art workshops held at the location.
