The Whitchurch-Stouffville Strawberry Festival has been named one of Ontario‘s Top 100 Festivals for 2026, marking a significant milestone for the community event that has been running for over 40 years. The recognition was awarded by Festivals and Events Ontario during their annual awards gala on February 25, 2026.
This year, the festival is set to take place in Memorial Park from June 26 to June 28, 2026. Organizers are introducing a new Saturday Main Street experience on June 27, created in partnership with the Markham Stouffville Cruisers. Residents can look forward to a classic car show, local shopping, and outdoor dining in the heart of town.
The festival remains free for the public to attend, featuring live entertainment, artisan vendors, food trucks, and family-friendly activities throughout the weekend. The event continues to be a staple of the Canada Day long weekend, drawing thousands of visitors to the community each year.
The festival’s ongoing success is supported by a partnership formed in February 2025 between the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville and the Strawberry Festival Board of Directors. Under this arrangement, the town manages event operations, while the volunteer board, led by President Cornelia Hunter-Burns, oversees traditional legacy events such as the pancake breakfast.
Mayor Iain Lovatt noted that the recent provincial recognition serves as a testament to how local gatherings help connect the community and support town businesses. Organizers believe this collaborative approach will continue to keep the long-standing tradition a cornerstone of the summer calendar for years to come.
