The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library welcomed approximately 1,600 attendees on May 2, 2026, for the 14th annual Owen Sound Mini Con. The free community event brought together fans of comics, gaming, and pop culture for a day of celebration and creativity.
What began 13 years ago as a small local gathering for Free Comic Book Day has grown into a comprehensive festival. Inspired by the large-scale Toronto Comic Arts Festival, the event provides a space for enthusiasts to share their passions and explore different forms of fandom.
This year marked a milestone for the event, featuring the largest exhibitor lineup in its history. The Artists’ Alley hosted 16 local creators who showcased a variety of items, including leatherwork, resin art, 3D printed goods, and accessories for tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons.
In addition to the artist displays, attendees participated in a variety of activities, including video game tournaments and board games hosted by Scenic City Game Emporium. While entry to the event was free, guests had the option to support local makers, participate in crafts like button making, or contribute to donations that help fund future library programming.
