Fort Saskatchewan City Council has unanimously approved new rules to allow for a Sienna Attached Residential District within the Sienna neighbourhood. The decisions, made during a meeting at City Hall on April 28, 2026, follow a public hearing on the proposed bylaws.
Council passed Bylaws C3-26 and C4-26. Bylaw C3-26 amends the Southfort Area Structure Plan to designate an area within Sienna as Medium Density Residential, while Bylaw C4-26 amends the Land Use Bylaw to add a new Sienna Attached Residential District and redistrict a portion of land from Urban Reserve to Comprehensively Planned Residential District and Sienna Attached Residential District. Council also approved amendments to the Sienna Outline Plan, updating the concept plan and the land use statistics and population calculation.
Each motion was carried unanimously. The proposals were presented to council by Scott Purich, Planner I, and Lindsey Butterfield, Director of Planning and Development. Representatives from the development industry, including Shane Gerein of Qualico Communities and Chris Davis of Davis Consulting, also spoke in favour of the changes during the public hearing.
