Nominations for the 2026 municipal election in Tillsonburg, Ontario, officially opened on May 1, 2026, as the town begins the process of choosing its next local government.
While the window to file nomination papers for council and mayoral positions is now open, current Mayor Deb Gilvesy has not yet announced whether she will seek a second term. When asked about her plans at the Tillsonburg and District Chamber of Commerce Mayor’s Luncheon on April 15, 2026, Gilvesy indicated that her current focus is on the 2026 town budget.
Gilvesy, who was first elected in 2022 after serving one term as a town councillor, previously described 2026 as a year for finishing important community projects. During her annual levee in January 2026, she highlighted ongoing work on infrastructure repairs, fire hall upgrades, and improvements to Annandale House.
Candidates interested in running for municipal office have until August 21, 2026, to submit their paperwork. Several candidates have already filed nominations for town council seats. Residents will head to the polls on October 26, 2026, with an advance voting period held from October 13 to October 25, 2026.
