The Waterloo Regional Police Service is investigating a shooting that left an 18-year-old man in hospital in Waterloo, Ontario. Officers responded to the area of King Street North and Princess Street East at approximately 1:40 a.m. on May 9, 2026, where they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
The young man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation into the shooting is currently being led by the police service’s General Investigations Unit.
This incident follows an attempted robbery that occurred two days earlier on May 7, 2026, at a jewellery store near Highland Road West and Fischer-Hallman Road in Kitchener. In that case, three suspects used hammers to smash glass display cases, while a fourth person waited in a getaway vehicle. Store staff intervened, and the group fled the scene without taking any merchandise. No injuries were reported during that robbery attempt.
