The Hanover Police Service has charged a 32-year-old local woman with assault following an incident that took place in Hanover on April 21, 2026.
Officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the 200 block of 16th Avenue. Following an investigation, police determined there were grounds to believe an assault had occurred. The victim involved in the incident did not sustain any injuries.
The woman has been released from custody and is expected to appear at the Walkerton Courthouse to address the charge. The matter is currently before the court.
According to the Criminal Code of Canada, simple assault is a criminal offence that can lead to a criminal record and carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison upon conviction.
