As spring weather settles in, local outdoor facilities are shifting operations. The Watson Lake Visitor Information Centre officially reopened on May 1 and will remain open daily until September 30. The community also offers over 65 km of multi-use trails available for hiking and biking as snow continues to recede.
Nearby, Mount Maichen, a volunteer-run ski destination located approximately 8 km from town, has concluded its operations for the season. The resort, which features nine groomed runs and two T-bar lifts, typically operates from late December to mid-April. Earlier this year, the facility was recognized by a national analysis as the top hidden gem ski resort in Canada.
