Families in Steinbach, Manitoba, have until May 23, 2026, to register their children for a youth football program designed to teach the fundamentals of the sport.
The Eastman Raiders Football Club is hosting its First Down 2026 initiative for children ages 4 to 7. The program, which is based on a national curriculum from Football Canada, focuses on developing basic movement skills like running, throwing, catching, and kicking through age-appropriate games and drills. Participation is entirely non-contact.
Sessions will take place at A.D. Penner Park on Tuesdays and Fridays from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, starting June 9 and running until July 3, 2026. Organizers state that no prior experience or special equipment is required for the children to participate; they only need to show up ready to have fun.
Registration for the program is available online through TeamLinkt. Because spots are limited, interested families are encouraged to sign up before the May 23 deadline.
