Residents of the Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation in Manitoba are enjoying a shift to milder conditions this week. As of May 13, 2026, clear skies and temperatures reaching 21°C are providing a welcome break from an unusually cool and wet spring.
According to The Weather Network, there are no active weather alerts for the community, which sits on the western shore of Lake Manitoba. Residents can expect a moderate ultraviolet index today, with the sun rising at 5:49 a.m. and setting at 9:12 p.m.
This pleasant stretch of weather follows a challenging start to the agricultural season across the province. Recent reports indicate that only two percent of seeding operations have been completed in Manitoba so far this year. This is a significant delay compared to the eight percent completed at this time last year and the five-year average of six percent.
With 4,265 of the community’s 7,483 registered members living on the reserve, the shift toward warmer, clearer days provides more favourable conditions for outdoor activities and local operations following the delayed start to the spring season.
