Fort Saskatchewan High School has issued a strict warning to Grade 12 students that water guns, replica weapons, and related game gear are prohibited on school property. The announcement, released on May 13, 2026, aims to curb participation in an unofficial student game known as Senior Splash while ensuring safety on campus.
School officials stated that any water guns or imitation weapons brought onto school grounds, parking lots, or school buses will be confiscated and will not be returned. The school also clarified that the activity is not affiliated with Fort Saskatchewan High School, its graduation events, or the Elk Island Public Schools division.
The policy extends beyond just the water guns themselves. Students are also prohibited from wearing costumes, goggles, or other gear related to the game while at school. The school administration emphasized that this rule applies to all district property, ensuring the campus remains a neutral zone.
The warning follows an incident on April 30, 2026, where the Strathcona County RCMP were called to a business in Emerald Hills after witnesses reported seeing youths with what appeared to be firearms. Police later determined the items were realistic-looking water guns used in the Senior Splash game. Police across multiple jurisdictions have warned that these imitation weapons are often indistinguishable from real firearms, creating significant risks for both the public and responding officers.
