Residents in Burlington and across the region are invited to join Halton Region Paramedic Services for a community open house on Saturday, May 23, 2026. The free event takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Woodlands Operations Centre, located at 1179 Bronte Road in Oakville.
The gathering is held in celebration of Paramedic Services Week, a national event organized by the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada. This year’s Halton event theme, Better Care Starts Here, highlights the work of the regional team that serves residents in Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton, and Oakville.
During the open house, community members can meet local paramedics, explore emergency vehicles and equipment, and learn how emergency crews work on the front lines. The event also offers the opportunity to learn basic first aid skills. In addition to educational activities, families can enjoy live band entertainment and purchase lunch from a barbecue.
The event provides a look into a service that has grown significantly over the past quarter-century. Since becoming a regional service in 2000, the team has expanded from 60 paramedics and six stations to more than 300 paramedics operating out of 15 stations today. These crews respond to more than 60,000 calls annually and transport nearly 36,000 patients to the hospital each year.
Those interested in attending can find further information and registration details on the Halton Region events page.
