The Eastman Raiders Football Club is inviting children ages 8 to 16 to try the sport for free at an upcoming event in Steinbach, Manitoba. The session will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the organization’s home field in A.D. Penner Park.
The event is designed to introduce new players to the game in a welcoming environment, with no previous experience or equipment required. Participants will have the opportunity to learn basic football skills while meeting coaches and potential teammates. Parents are also encouraged to attend to learn more about the program and how the volunteer-run organization operates.
Founded in 1991, the club is a member of the Manitoba Minor Football Association, which governs youth tackle football across the province. The Raiders offer various age-based programs, including Cruncher, Atom, Peewee, and Bantam levels. Club officials are also exploring the addition of a new age division for youth under 18 for the 2026 season.
The club has seen significant community interest following a successful 2024 season, during which their Bantam team secured a championship title with a perfect 10-0 record. Families interested in registering for the 2026 season have until June 30 to sign up for the program.
The City of Steinbach has also committed $70,000 in its 2026 budget to support a project aimed at installing floodlights at the field. This initiative is intended to extend practice times for the club’s various age groups throughout the season.
