The Station Arts Centre in Tillsonburg is inviting community members of all ages to help create a new piece of public art during a hands-on event on Saturday, June 6, 2026. From noon to 4 p.m., residents can visit the centre at 41 Bridge St. W. to participate in Pressed Together, a project that will see individual button templates assembled into a large-scale mosaic for permanent display.
The event is free to attend and offers a chance for locals to contribute directly to an installation at the community hub. The Station Arts Centre operates as a charitable, non-profit organization, which is legally registered as the Tillsonburg District Craft Guild. The organization began restoring the historic site in 1982, eventually transforming it into a vibrant space for the arts.
The centre is housed within two reimagined 19th-century train stations. The Great Western Railway Station was built in 1879 as the town’s first station, while the Tillsonburg Lake Erie and Pacific C.P. Station was built in 1896 and later moved to the property in 1994. Today, the facility features an artisan shop, workshop spaces, and two galleries, the Patenaude Family Gallery and The Bridge Street Gallery, which showcase nearly 1,500 pieces of art annually.
Tabitha Verbuyst, who serves as the program and community coordinator and gallery curator, helps lead the centre’s ongoing efforts to promote local arts. Residents interested in the upcoming project can find more information about this and other programming through the Station Arts Centre website.
