The Town of Hay River Recreation Department has officially launched its summer programming guide, highlighting the Don Stewart Aquatic Centre as the primary hub for local activities in Hay River, Northwest Territories. With the peak season approaching, residents are encouraged to review the available offerings and register early to secure their spots in upcoming sessions.
Located within the Hay River Community Centre at 79 Woodland Drive, the aquatic facility serves as a focal point for the community. It features an 8-metre by 25-metre leisure pool with four lap lanes, a kiddie pool, a 150-foot indoor waterslide, a hot tub, and a steam room. The centre operates alongside the Aurora Ford Arena and Hay River Curling Club as part of the broader community complex.
The summer lineup includes swim lessons, AquaFit aquatic fitness classes, and the Summer Heat day camp program. In addition to aquatic activities, the department continues to offer a variety of fitness programs, such as Senior Lift & Learn, Seniors Spin, Active Living for those with chronic health conditions, and parent and infant classes like Reps and Rattles.
