A 29-year-old man was arrested by the Brandon Police Service on May 18, 2026, following a vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash on Willowdale Boulevard.
Police officers attempted to pull over a rental vehicle at approximately 10:55 p.m. When the driver failed to stop, the vehicle eventually struck a light post and hedges. The suspect fled on foot, but officers used a K9 unit to track him from the vehicle to his location, where he was found with the car keys in his possession. Authorities also recovered 9 grams of cocaine/crack cocaine that had been discarded in the 2500 block of Brandon Avenue during the incident. The man faces charges of flight from police and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
In an unrelated matter, police also arrested a 35-year-old male on May 18 for breaching a no-communication order in a domestic case. He was released with an upcoming court date of July 20, 2026.
These local arrests come as the city’s police force continues to participate in broader efforts to address drug-related crime. The Brandon Police Service was recently one of 13 agencies involved in a major interprovincial investigation that resulted in the seizure of $37.2 million worth of illegal drugs. That investigation, which was announced on May 20, led to 33 arrests, including 27-year-old Brandon resident Brayden Lindsay.
