The Dennis Ball Memorial Pool in Watson Lake, Yukon, is officially open for the summer season. Operated by the Town of Watson Lake Parks and Recreation Department, the outdoor facility welcomed swimmers back on May 14, 2026.
Located on Lakeview Avenue next to the local Recreation Centre, the heated, 15,000-square-foot pool can host up to 75 swimmers at once. The site includes both shallow and deep ends, designated lap lanes, and change rooms with showers. Lifeguards are on duty during all scheduled swim times to ensure public safety.
Residents have a variety of programming options available this year, including public and family swims, lane swims, and fitness classes like Aquafit. The pool also hosts swimming lessons and youth swim team training. For those looking to enjoy the summer weather, staff operate the Lucky Lake Waterslide on weekends, provided conditions allow. The slide is notable for being the only outdoor waterslide located north of the 60th parallel.
Families can also take advantage of the new accessible playground at the pool site, which was completed in the fall of 2025. Designed for children ages 2 to 12, the area features inclusive equipment such as multi-user swings, a seesaw, and various play structures.
To streamline access, the town recently introduced a new online booking system. Through this platform, visitors can now purchase memberships and book facility rentals online. The pool, which was established in 2006, will continue its seasonal operations through August.
