The City of Guelph announced on May 19, 2026, that it is distributing $543,500 to 76 local organizations through its annual Community Grant Program. This investment is intended to help groups deliver essential services that improve the quality of life and economic prosperity for residents across the community.
The funding package is split into $513,500 in direct grants and $30,000 in fee reimbursements. Of the 76 organizations selected to receive support, 59 are new recipients, while 17 are continuing to receive multi-year funding awarded during previous cycles. The city received 82 applications this year, reflecting a high demand for the program that exceeded the number of available awards.
The money supports a wide variety of local initiatives, ranging from social services and food security to youth programs, arts and culture, and environmental projects. Under the program guidelines, organizations are eligible to apply for up to $15,000 annually for a period of up to three years.
Alex Goss, the City’s Manager of Equity and Community Investment, noted that this ongoing commitment is part of an effort to strengthen the local economy and support the nonprofit groups that provide services to residents. The 2026 total of $543,500 represents a 2.6% increase from the $529,810 distributed in 2025, and the number of organizations receiving funding increased from 74 to 76 this year.
