Waterloo Regional Police arrested a 30-year-old Hamilton man in Kitchener, Ontario, early May 24 after officers were called to reports of a man brandishing a handgun inside an establishment at King Street East and Cedar Street South.
Police said the call came in at about 12:20 a.m. Officers arrested the man and seized a loaded handgun and a pellet gun. No injuries were reported, according to Waterloo Regional Police Service.
The accused faces nine charges, including point firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless use of a firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, and two counts of possession contrary to a prohibition order. He was held for a bail hearing.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing and are asking anyone with video footage or other information about the incident to contact investigators.
