Brantford police are immediately pulling licences and impounding vehicles for drivers caught at extreme speeds, with an 82-year-old man among the latest charged after being clocked at 132 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on King George Road. The Brantford Police Service traffic unit laid multiple stunt driving charges between May 14 and May 21, 2026, as part of an ongoing crackdown that officers warn leaves no room for warnings.
On Fairview Drive, a 22-year-old motorcyclist was charged with stunt driving after travelling 117 km/h in a 50 km/h Community Safety Zone, an area where reduced speeds protect children, families, and pedestrians near schools and parks. According to the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, stunt driving includes going 40 km/h or more over the limit in zones under 80 km/h, or 50 km/h or more over the limit in 80 km/h or higher zones.
Those charged face immediate roadside penalties, including a 30-day licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment. If convicted, drivers can be fined between $2,000 and $10,000 and face an additional licence suspension of one to three years for a first offence.
On May 22, Brant County OPP charged a 19-year-old Brantford driver after he was seen going about 135 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Bishopsgate Road. Police say enforcement is not letting up, especially in Community Safety Zones where excessive speed puts the most vulnerable at risk. “Brantford Police have zero tolerance for excessive speeding and dangerous driving behaviours that put our community at risk,” the service stated.
