Residents of Watson Lake interested in a career with the RCMP will have a chance to learn more at a recruiting and career fair on June 9, 2026. The event is set for the Watson Lake Recreation Centre, located at 912 Lakeview Ave.
The Yukon RCMP is hosting the fair to share information about police officer positions and the local hiring process. The event ties into Project Red Serge, a recruiting effort that lets people from British Columbia and Yukon apply and be processed right within the division, rather than going through a national system.
According to the RCMP recruiting events page, the fair will cover opportunities for police officers, community constables, and telecommunications operators. However, the RCMP’s community constables page currently says they are not accepting applications for that role, and advises checking back for future openings.
The career fair comes as the Yukon government has put more than $3 million toward 10 new police positions in the 2026-27 budget, announced in March 2026. The funding aims to boost RCMP staffing across the territory.
The Watson Lake Recreation Centre, also known as the Morgan Chaddock Recreation Centre, is a central spot for community events and gatherings. For more details on the fair, residents can reach the Yukon RCMP recruiting team by email at [email protected] or by phone at 867-633-8616.
