Halton Region released a report on May 25, 2026, detailing its work over the past four years, with updates on housing, paramedic services, and infrastructure.
The 2023-2026 Term in Review Report was first presented to Regional Council on May 20 by Regional Chair Gary Carr and Chief Administrative Officer Andrew Farr.
In housing, the region added 339 new assisted and supportive housing spots. Paramedic Services responded to more than 66,000 calls in 2025, taking 38,000 patients to hospital.
On the infrastructure side, over 30 km of trunk water and wastewater mains were finished, connecting Georgetown to lake-based services. The region also kept its top credit ratings from S&P Global Ratings and Moody’s Investors Service, which helps keep borrowing costs down. Regional property tax increases averaged 2.0% from 2014 to 2026.
The report arrives ahead of the October 26, 2026 municipal election, after which a new council will begin a term that includes work on the 2027-2030 Strategic Business Plan. The Regional Chair position will now be appointed by the province under the Better Regional Governance Act, 2026, rather than being chosen directly by voters.
