The Rural Municipality of Brokenhead has opened its municipal burn site for the 2026 season, giving residents a dozen Saturday mornings to drop off yard waste through October. Located on Road 38E between Mile 74N and Mile 75N, the site started accepting clean burnables on May 23 and will next be open June 6.
The 2026 Burn Site Schedule shows gates are open from 9 a.m. until noon each scheduled day. A fee of $5 in cash is collected at the gate, and only clean yard waste is permitted. That includes grass clippings, leaves, branches, and garden waste.
After June 6, the remaining dates are June 20, July 4 and 18, August 1, 15, and 29, September 12 and 26, and October 10 and 24. The municipality notes additional openings could be added later depending on weather.
The burn site gives residents of Brokenhead, about 45 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg in Manitoba’s Eastman Region, a simple way to get rid of yard waste that might otherwise pile up on rural properties. The service is run by the RM’s public works department as part of its seasonal waste management offerings.
