Dauphin, Manitoba is looking at a week of warm and unsettled weather with daytime highs well above normal and multiple chances of showers and thunderstorms, according to Environment Canada. As of early Monday afternoon the temperature at Dauphin Airport sat at 24°C with a humidex of 29, but the mercury is expected to climb as high as 32°C by Sunday.
The seven-day forecast calls for highs to range from 15°C on Thursday to 32°C on Sunday, which is 11 degrees above the typical June maximum of 21°C. Monday’s high is forecast to reach 28°C with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a risk of a thunderstorm. Tuesday brings a high of 26°C and a 70 per cent chance of afternoon showers with thunderstorm risk, the wettest point of the week.
Rain is forecast to continue through Wednesday with a high of 18°C, and periods of rain on Thursday before skies begin to clear Friday into the weekend. No weather alerts are in effect for the Dauphin area.
The week will also feature high UV levels. Monday’s index is rated 6, or high, and Tuesday reaches 7. At these levels unprotected skin can burn in as little as 15 to 30 minutes, so residents spending time outdoors are urged to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated.
Meanwhile, Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure reports Dauphin Lake sat at 856.14 feet above sea level on June 1, which is above the upper operating range of 854.8 feet but still below flood stage of 858 feet.
