Hay River residents have one more day to apply for a Maintenance Engineering Technologist job with the Government of Northwest Territories, as the position closes at midnight June 2, 2026. A Stationary Engineer Trainee role remains available until June 10, according to the territory’s careers page for Hay River.
Both jobs are with the Department of Infrastructure and open only to people living within a 40-kilometre drive of Hay River. Applicants must also pass a criminal record check, and the positions come with priority consideration under the GNWT’s Indigenous Employment Policy.
The Maintenance Engineering Technologist is a full-time, permanent job with a salary between $101,400 and $121,076 per year. The role involves technical support for highway maintenance across the South Slave, North Slave, Fort Simpson, and Inuvik regions.
The Stationary Engineer Trainee is a two-year term position paying $87,714 to $104,749 annually. The trainee helps maintain plumbing, heating, and ventilation systems in GNWT buildings around Hay River while working toward a 5th Class Stationary Engineer certification. Both jobs include an extra $4,538 Northern Allowance each year.
