Hanover police are asking for the public’s help to track down a motorcyclist who fled from officers at high speed early on May 23, 2026. The Hanover Police Service says the rider took off westbound on 10th Street after officers tried to pull over a cruiser-style motorcycle around 3:28 a.m. that Saturday.
“The motorcycle failed to stop for police and fled at a high rate of speed West Bound on 10th Street,” the service said in a public appeal posted to its website on June 3. Investigators have not been able to identify the operator and are now asking anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam video from the area at that time to come forward.
The early morning flight raised safety concerns along the 10th Street corridor, a stretch that houses the police station itself and serves as a key route through the town of about 8,000 people. Hanover police are encouraging anyone with information to call their dispatch centre at 519-364-2411.
Tips can also be left anonymously with Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by submitting a secure web tip at www.cstip.ca. A free P3 Tips mobile app is also available, and tipsters may qualify for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
The appeal comes as the service runs Project Noisemaker, a traffic enforcement effort targeting aggressive driving and loud mufflers that began May 16 and runs through September 7. Police say they are still actively investigating the May 23 incident.
