Fort Saskatchewan residents have until July 27, 2026, to put forward their favourite local businesses for the 2026 Business Awards, hosted by the Fort Saskatchewan & Lamont County Regional Chamber of Commerce. The awards celebrate the entrepreneurs and organizations that help shape the community, with nine categories open for nominations that cover everything from new ventures to long-standing service.
Anyone can nominate a business for categories including Business of the Year, New Business of the Year, Women in Business, Personal & Professional Service, Lone Star, Innovation & Sustainability, and Community Impact. Two special honours, the Terry Douglas Award of Excellence and the Ken Hodgins Meritorious Service Award, recognize outstanding volunteerism and community leadership. The Terry Douglas Award was created in 2006 and named after a former chamber president who owned Canadian Tire in Fort Saskatchewan, while the Ken Hodgins Award dates to 2010 and honours a past executive director who also served as mayor from 1995 to 2004.
The nomination process requires a business to receive at least three nominations to be considered. After that, an awards committee reviews the candidates before sending them to judges who select the top finalists. The regional chamber was formed through the 2025 merger of the Fort Saskatchewan and Lamont chambers, now representing a broader region that includes Lamont County and communities such as Bruderheim, Gibbons, and Lamont.
Last year’s winners included Kate’s Delivery for Business of the Year and LPT Success Solutions for New Business of the Year. The 41st awards ceremony took place on October 3, 2025, when the chamber’s new board was sworn in by Mayor Gale Katchur. Wade Robichaud currently serves as president, with Gerald Corbiere as vice-president and Tamara Dabels as treasurer.
This marks the 42nd year the chamber has recognized business excellence, continuing a tradition that started in 1984. Fort Saskatchewan, part of Alberta’s Industrial Heartland, is home to roughly 30,000 people and a median income of about $120,000 per year. The chamber encourages residents to submit nominations online before the July 27 deadline.
