Drivers in Quispamsis will see road work on Jenkins Drive this week as crews remove old asphalt and install new curb, part of the town’s 2026 Street Capital Upgrades program. The work runs from June 8 to 14, with one lane staying open and flag persons directing traffic through the area, according to the Town of Quispamsis Engineering department.
The project involves excavation of existing curb sections, removal and disposal of old asphalt, and placement of new curb along Jenkins Drive. It is one of ten streets included in this year’s upgrades, which also cover Cambridge Avenue, Elliot Road, Colt Drive, Pacer Drive, Forrester’s Road, Heather Street, Sunny Lane, Rivercrest Drive, and Antler Crescent.
The wider upgrades program, performed by Galbraith Construction Ltd., is expected to continue into late August or early September. The Saint John-based contractor has handled heavy civil projects in southern New Brunswick since 1961.
Town council approved a $20,415,900 general capital fund budget for 2026, with more than $12 million going to road and street infrastructure. Council kept the property tax rate unchanged at $1.2599 per $100 of assessment.
