Work on Pipestone Road in the County of Wetaskiwin will begin a week later than planned after rain pushed the start date to June 15, 2026.
The County of Wetaskiwin confirmed the delay in a June 3 update, noting that the $817,995 rehabilitation of Township Road 472A is now expected to begin June 15. Crews from Park-Aid Asphalt & Maintenance Ltd. will be on site for about 14 working days.
The project will tackle a half-mile stretch running east from the Highway 792 intersection. Work includes digging out and rebuilding weak sections of road, repairing the subgrade, swapping out small culverts, and laying down a fresh layer of hot mix asphalt.
Drivers should expect minor delays once construction gets going, but traffic will be able to get through the work zone. The County’s update warns that the 14-day timeline doesn’t count any days lost to more wet weather, with an overall completion target of late October 2026.
Rain delays aren’t unusual for this time of year in central Alberta. June typically brings about 79 millimetres of rain over roughly 12 days.
