Community groups in Owen Sound have until June 30 to apply for a grant program that could help pay for emergency generators, flood barriers, and other critical upgrades. The Community Partnership Grant from Hydro One offers up to $25,000 to Ontario municipalities and municipality-endorsed charitable organizations. The deadline is June 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
This funding targets projects that boost local emergency preparedness, protect critical infrastructure, or support community well-being. Hydro One says eligible projects can include backup generators for community centres or fire halls, portable emergency power units, flood barriers, and warming or cooling centre upgrades.
The timing could be important for Owen Sound, which has faced ice storms and other severe weather in recent years that led to power outages. Nearby Georgian Bluffs previously received an ice storm recovery grant from Hydro One, showing the utility has stepped in to help with local emergencies.
There is already a local success story. The Grey Sauble Conservation Authority, based in Owen Sound, landed a $25,000 grant from Hydro One’s Energizing Life Community Fund in January 2026. That money supported a wetland education program focused on climate resilience.
Eligible applicants must be a municipality or have official backing from one. Faith-based organizations, political groups, sports teams, and individuals are not eligible. Local organizations like the city itself, with its Community Emergency Management Coordinator, or others such as Safe ‘N Sound and OSHaRE, could potentially apply if they have a municipality-endorsed project. Hydro One expects to notify successful applicants directly and announce the recipients publicly this summer.
