Strathcona County Transit is rolling out some big changes to bus routes across Sherwood Park starting June 22, 2026, and riders in Fort Saskatchewan should take note if they connect through the Bethel Transit Terminal. The adjustments include a new on-demand service for the Cambrian and Hearthstone neighbourhoods, more frequent buses in Emerald Hills, and separated routes that will change how some people get around.
For the first time, people in the growing Cambrian and Hearthstone areas will have transit service right in their neighbourhood. The new peak-hour on-demand service will run Monday to Friday, with morning pickups from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and afternoon rides from 3:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. This is a direct result of the Transit Master Plan approved by county council in December 2024, which set a goal of bringing transit to Cambrian in 2026.
In Emerald Hills, Route 430 will now run on a staggered schedule with departures at :00 and :30 after the hour. When paired with Route 431, that means a bus every 15 minutes in the area. Riders should know that Routes 430 and 433 are being split up and will no longer be combined, so people who used to ride through will need to check the new separate maps and times. Also, stop 7516 is being removed from Route 430, but anyone who uses that stop can catch Route 432 instead.
Route 451 has a fresh schedule and map, and it will once again be interlined with Route 443. For folks in Fort Saskatchewan who rely on Fort Sask Transit Route 600 to connect to Sherwood Park, it is a good idea to review the new local maps. The Route 600 commuter bus runs during peak hours between the Dow Centennial Centre and Bethel Transit Terminal, and any shuffle in Sherwood Park schedules could affect transfer times.
The county says these updates come from feedback they heard during community consultations for the Transit Master Plan, and the goal is to make service more reliable and easier to use. Full details and new schedules are posted on the Strathcona County transit page.
