Families in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, can pick up free baby formula from the Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank until July 22, 2026. The organization says it has enough supply to meet demand and there are no restrictions on who can access the formula.
Residents can visit the Nourishment Centre at 11226 88 Avenue during regular hours to get what they need. The office is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended hamper pick-up times on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The food bank, run by the Fort Saskatchewan Food Gatherers Society, has seen a sharp rise in demand. In 2023, it handed out 3,833 regular hampers, a 19 percent jump from the year before. Its Daily Bread Plus program grew by 317 percent between 2022 and 2023.
The organization relies entirely on donations and more than 200 volunteers. It receives no government funding for its day-to-day operations, though the province maintains $5 million in food security funding through Budget 2026 to support food banks across Alberta.
