Several neighbourhoods in Quispamsis, New Brunswick, will see road crews and lane closures through late August or early September as the town pushes ahead with its 2026 street upgrades. The work covers 10 streets in all, with active construction now focused on Jenkins Drive, Forrester’s Road, Sunny Lane, Colt Drive, Pacer Drive, and Heather Street. A separate watermain project along Hampton Road near the Clarwood area also means a lane reduction for the next two to three weeks.
According to a Road Construction Notice from the Town of Quispamsis, crews are installing curbs and gutters on Jenkins Drive, laying storm sewers on Forrester’s Road, replacing driveway culverts on Sunny Lane, Colt Drive, and Pacer Drive, and cleaning ditches along Heather Street. Drivers should expect slowed traffic in those areas and are encouraged to use alternate routes where possible.
The wider 2026 Street Capital Upgrades program is managed by the Town’s Engineering Department and targets roughly 8 to 10 streets each year based on an annual road assessment. This summer’s list includes Cambridge Avenue, Elliot Road, Colt Drive, Pacer Drive, Forrester’s Road, Heather Street, Sunny Lane, Rivercrest Drive, Jenkins Drive, and Antler Crescent. Town Engineer Mark Morrison noted the work is chosen by road condition ratings.
Galbraith Construction Ltd., a Saint John-based company founded in 1961, won the $2.19-million contract for the program. That figure came in under the town’s budgeted estimate of $2.27 million. Overall, Quispamsis has set aside more than $12 million for road and street infrastructure in its $20.4-million 2026 capital budget.
Separately, the Government of Canada invested more than $2 million through the Build Communities Strong Fund to extend the watermain network along 1.5 kilometres of Hampton Road. That work is expected to support up to 1,055 new housing units in eight development areas. A lane closure is in effect there for watermain installation, and motorists should plan for delays.
