Didsbury adults looking to get a better handle on their finances can soon turn to the local library for free help. The Didsbury Municipal Library has added a new financial literacy session to its program lineup, set for Thursday, September 17, 2026 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The workshop, called Money Matters: Making Cents of it All, will be led by Patricia McKean, a mortgage broker with more than 25 years in the lending industry. McKean, a Lead Planner with Mortgage Architects, will guide participants through building a simple budget, improving credit scores, making smarter daily money choices, and how better habits can open the door to goals like home ownership.
Registration is required and spots are capped at 20 people, so anyone interested is encouraged to sign up early. The program is sponsored by the Community Adult Learning Program, a provincial initiative backed by the Government of Alberta that supports adult literacy and foundational learning through more than 80 community organizations across the province.
The library has seen more people through its doors across the board this year—from program attendance to items borrowed, public computer use, and space bookings—a trend staff link to the rising cost of living. The town council backed that growing role in 2025 with a $267,867 operating grant, helping push the library’s total projected revenues to $382,575, up from $353,694 the year before.
