Colwood, BC – Families in Colwood can soon sign up their little ones for summer swim lessons. The West Shore Parks & Recreation Society has announced that registration for summer aquatics programs will open on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 6:00 AM, starting with Aquatics Preschool Lessons.
The sign-up process will use a virtual waiting room to deal with the expected high demand. Access to the registration website, explore.wspr.ca, will be limited starting at 5:00 AM. At 6:00 AM, everyone in the waiting room will be placed in a queue and a live progress bar will show estimated wait times.
After the preschool lessons on June 22, registration for school age, adult, and private swim lessons opens the next day, June 23 at 6:00 AM. The programs are held at the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre on Island Highway and serve families across the West Shore, including Colwood, Langford, View Royal, Metchosin, and Highlands.
The summer aquatics lineup includes Early Years lessons for ages 4 months to 5 years, School Age lessons for ages 5 to 15, Adult lessons for ages 14 and up, and private lessons in both the leisure and main pools. The West Shore Parks & Recreation Society is marking its 60th anniversary in 2026, along with 25 years since the Centennial Pool opened.
Because popular swim programs often fill up quickly, families are encouraged to be ready when registration opens. The registration alert highlights the early start time and the new queue system as key things to know before Monday morning.
