Owen Sound, Ont. is set for a warm-up this week after some early morning fog, according to Environment Canada. The national weather agency’s seven-day forecast calls for mainly sunny conditions starting Tuesday, with temperatures climbing through the weekend.
Fog patches are expected Monday night and into Tuesday morning, a common occurrence along the Georgian Bay shoreline when warm air moves over the cooler lake waters. Once the fog clears, Tuesday will be mainly sunny with a high of 22°C and a very high UV index of 8.
Wednesday brings a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers and a high of 26°C, and Thursday brings a 60 per cent chance of showers or thunderstorms with a high near 23°C. Conditions clear again by Friday, and Sunday could reach 25°C under a mix of sun and cloud. No weather alerts are in effect.
Out on the bay, the South Georgian Bay buoy shows light north-northwest winds of 5 knots and a water temperature of only 14°C. That’s chilly for swimmers but fine for boating as the week warms up.
With the bright forecast, outdoor plans are looking good across Grey-Bruce. Harbour Nights returns to the Owen Sound waterfront on Sundays, and the Marine Heritage Society has tours and markets lined up for a busy summer.
