Bridgewater and District of Lunenburg residents will need to put out their trash and recycling two days early this week because of the Canada Day holiday. South Shore Waste Solutions has shifted Wednesday, July 1, collection to Monday, June 29. Bins must be at the curb by 8 a.m. that day.
The schedule change means no pickup will happen on Canada Day. The waste disposal site at 908 Mullock Road in Whynott’s Settlement will also be closed July 1. Residents who miss the June 29 collection will have to wait for their next regular pickup day.
This shift is part of a permanent change that started March 30. South Shore Waste Solutions moved Bridgewater’s collection routes to four days, Tuesday through Friday, to run things more efficiently. As part of that, holiday collections were permanently moved to Mondays.
The Municipal Joint Services Board, which operates South Shore Waste Solutions, reminds everyone that bins cannot go out earlier than 8 p.m. the night before collection and must be within 10 feet of the curb. The service looks after curbside pickup for Bridgewater, the District of Lunenburg, and the Town of Mahone Bay. Mahone Bay residents have a different schedule and will put their bins out Monday, July 6.
