Wetaskiwin, Alberta – Young hockey players in Wetaskiwin can now sign up for a week of on-ice training this summer. The Wetaskiwin Hockey Academy has opened registration for its 2026 Summer Hockey Camp, running August 24 to 28 at Co-op Place Arena and Wetaskiwin Composite High School.
The camp is open to students entering grades 5 through 9 in the fall of 2026. It costs $450 and offers two ice sessions each day, adding up to 2.5 hours of instruction. Along with time on the ice, kids will take part in off-ice fitness, cooperative games, and different sports. Friday wraps up with a skills competition and a game. Daily snacks are provided, though families need to pack a lunch.
On the ice, players will work on agility, edgework, puck control, passing and receiving, shooting techniques, and scoring tactics. The camp runs from 8:45 a.m. drop-off to 3:45 p.m. pick-up each day. Registration is available through the WHA summer camp page. Students from Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools can register using the PowerSchool Parent Portal, while those outside the division use a different online form on the site.
The camp is led by instructors Jacob Conrad, a former QMJHL and USPORT player with business and education degrees, and Mr. Schneider, who played in the WHL and spent five years in the Calgary Flames organization. The Wetaskiwin Hockey Academy runs as a year-round Hockey Canada Skills Academy under the Wetaskiwin Regional Public School Division, serving students in grades 5 through 12 from eight local schools.
