Steinbach, Manitoba residents are gearing up for a full day of Canada Day fun on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, with the City of Steinbach and the Mennonite Heritage Village once again teaming up to deliver family-friendly activities from morning until night. The City has also confirmed that accessibility supports are available for anyone needing assistance at the evening event at the Soccer Park.
The celebration kicks off at 9 a.m. at the Mennonite Heritage Village, where admission is free all day until 5 p.m. Visitors can enjoy a Canada Day ceremony at 11 a.m., a flag-raising at 11:30 a.m., wagon rides, guided tours, barrel-train rides, children’s activities, and a candy booth. Food vendors will be on site serving up waffles, rollkuchen, and traditional Mennonite meals.
In the evening, the action shifts to the Steinbach Soccer Park starting at 5 p.m. A DJ will provide music, and free cupcakes, glowsticks, paper flags, stick-on tattoos, and Canada Day souvenirs will be handed out. The night wraps up with a fireworks display at 10:45 p.m., weather permitting. The City says fireworks will go ahead unless the provider deems conditions unsafe, and any updates will be posted on the City website and social media.
The City has noted that accessibility supports can be requested for the Soccer Park portion of the day, though it has not specified exactly what those supports include. Residents needing assistance are encouraged to reach out ahead of time.
The event is made possible in part by funding from the Government of Canada through the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Celebrate Canada Program. The City also put out a call for volunteers earlier this month to help distribute giveaways between 7:30 and 10 p.m., showing the community-driven spirit behind the celebration.
