Steinbach Minor Hockey and Steinbach Ringette have launched their annual joint raffle, offering more than $16,000 in prizes to help families offset the cost of youth sports. The raffle starts this Thursday, August 20, and runs until October 29, with proceeds going directly to player accounts.
The grand prize is $5,000 cash, sponsored by The Rental House in Steinbach. Second prize is a $2,500 package from Harvest Honda, and third prize includes a fire pit kit and gift cards. There are 30 additional prizes valued at $250 each, and an early bird prize of two Winnipeg Jets tickets for centre ice seating.
Each $20 ticket sold returns $18 to the player’s registration fees, allowing families to cover up to 90% of their costs. For children under seven, participating in fundraising can bring the total hockey bill down to about $100 for the season, including team fees. Last year’s raffle raised over $70,000 from 3,607 tickets sold, helping pay for ice rentals, officiating, and player development.
A mandatory parent meeting is set for Monday, September 14 at 7:00 PM at the Southeast Event Centre in meeting rooms 2/3. The meeting signals the start of the 2026-27 season for local hockey and ringette families.
This is the third year of the centralized raffle, which replaced individual team fundraisers to create a single community-wide effort. The program is supported by sponsors like The Rental House and Harvest Honda, and has also received nearly $26,000 in 50/50 proceeds from the Steinbach Pistons during the 2025-26 season.
