The Camrose Kodiaks and Camrose Bruins hockey teams served up a hearty total of 564 breakfasts at their annual Canada Day pancake breakfast on July 1, 2026, at the Camrose Community Centre in Camrose, Alberta.
The Big Bear Canada Day Pancake Breakfast ran from 8:00 AM to 10:45 AM, offering a traditional meal of pancakes, sausages, eggs, and freshly brewed coffee. Pricing was set at $12 for adults, $7 for youth, and free for children aged six and under, making it an affordable outing for families.
Volunteers from both teams-including board members, billet families, players, and staff-came together to organize and run the event. The Camrose Kodiaks, a Junior A team in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, have been hosting this community tradition for years alongside the Camrose Bruins, a Senior AA club founded in 2023 that competes in the North Central Hockey League.
The breakfast supports local hockey programs and gives residents an affordable, family-friendly way to celebrate the holiday. The City of Camrose partnered with the teams by providing access to the Community Centre as the venue. The Kodiaks mascot also made an appearance, entertaining children throughout the morning.
