Stand Off, Alberta, is set for a stretch of sunny and warm weather this week, with temperatures forecast to climb significantly above normal for early July. Environment Canada predicts daytime highs will rise from 24°C on Monday to as much as 31°C by the weekend, offering ideal conditions for outdoor plans.
The Environment Canada forecast shows steady warming, with Tuesday reaching 29°C and Wednesday hitting 30°C. Thursday will dip slightly to 27°C before a return to 28°C on Friday and then 31°C on both Saturday and Sunday. The warmest days will run 5 to 7 degrees above the normal July high of 24°C for the area.
Overnight lows will remain comfortable, between 12 and 14°C, under clear skies for most of the week. Monday and Tuesday will also bring a very high UV index of 8. Health officials remind everyone to limit time in the sun, particularly between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., when UV rays are most intense.
According to Environment Canada, a UV index of 8 means people should take extra care. Recommendations include wearing UV-protective sunglasses, staying in the shade when possible, and reapplying sunscreen every two hours or after swimming or heavy sweating.
