A 57-year-old Owen Sound man was seriously hurt on June 29, 2026, when his bicycle was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of 4th Avenue West and 3rd Street A West. Owen Sound police say the cyclist’s injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
The crash happened around 10:17 p.m., according to the Owen Sound Police Service. The cyclist was taken to a London-area trauma centre for care. The pickup driver has been charged with careless driving causing bodily harm under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
A section of the road was shut down for several hours overnight. Officers and the Forensic Identification Unit examined the scene before it reopened.
Police are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch with Constable Singh. Witnesses can email [email protected].
The collision is the latest incident involving vulnerable road users in Owen Sound this year. In February, 48-year-old Sabrina Ormsby was killed after being hit in a crosswalk at 10th Street East and 16th Avenue East. A 66-year-old driver faces a careless driving causing death charge and has a court date on July 13, 2026. A four-year-old child was also struck near 14th Street West and Alpha Street in May.
